"Hi Carsten:    The OROV Controller board has breakouts for both a 5V and a 3.3V I2C bus.  The 3.3V I2C bus is routed outside of the vehicle for use by the compass and depth sensor.  So yes, you can add this."

Why send an ROV instead of a diver? (Well, Saltwater Crocs is one excuse...)

Erica Bergman just updated her expedition to Cuba, and made a post on reasons to send an ROV instead of a diver. There are all sorts of good reasons: depth, time, speed, safety, saltwater crocodiles.

Check out here trip here: …

Thanks for the internal parts once my design is finalized I'll set aside material and machine time for you in case you want some bullet proof end caps.

Hey David,

I'm not sure the correct person to contact, but  I ordered an kit from the store back in October (order number #1261,  ROV serial number #494), but I am just starting to build it now (through step 18).

I have discovered the kit is missing the following parts:

for Step 21:

-Aft battery end cap inner disk (quantity 2)

for Step 23:

-large (28 mm) forward end cap disk (quantity 4)

-small (24 mm) forward end cap disk (quantity 2)

Is it possible to get these parts?  i would happily pay for another complete set of acrylic (spares wouldn't hurt!)...

Thanks and great work!

Paul

Yes it was great to have the opportunity and time on the plane back yesterday. Spent a little time this morning investigating the Maker Movement - very encouraging, much more to explore.

Some highlights from my investigation of Persig's MOQ that you may find interesting:

R. Persig, Subjects, Objects, Data and Values : http://moq.org/forum/Pirsig/emmpaper.html

Which suggests some connections his "Metaphysics of Quality" with Niels Bohr's Philosophy of Complementarity

Niels Bohr, Philosophy of Complementarity : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Complementarity_(physics)

Which aligns the mathematical formulation of quantum mechanics (statistical reality) with the classical formulation of objective reality

From there I ran into these two papers both from 1949 - even the opening paragraphs are good to have in one's head.

Hey David -

I heard you were at the Open Hardware Summit - And I think that we were standing next to a project at the end of the day - I cant remember which one - but (during the demos) - Am I correct? perhaps it was someone else, but I thought that later when looking at your site yesterday -

Anyway - I would LOVE to hear, see, experience... some openROV ... I will be at Maker Faire tomrorow  - so , I think you are also? I'll come say hi...

Great,

gabriella

Really look forward to seeing

David, I haven't test or even built much of the prototype yet.  It was supposed to be a quick and dirty build to get my feet wet, but I didn't get it built before my son was born.  I'm finally getting back to it, although I think I'm going to make the frame bigger so I have some room to add new systems as I go.
